Hampi

After 10 hours of rickshaw, bus, bus, train, rickshaw there are finally the first sights of the ancient ruins of Hampi, the 1336 established site for the new capital Vijayanagar. By the 16th century it grew to one of the largest Hindu empires in Indian history with a population of about 500,000 people.
Today it is place to get lost among ruins and be mesmerised by the landscape sculped by millions years of volcanic activity.

  1. Amazing the ruins seem in good shape! What era Islas it from? Interesting seeing how Hindu religion and culture influenced other Asian culture over the time...
